By Helen Pearse-Otene, Andrew Burdan
This book is written in Te Reo Māori.
This graphic novel is about Meariki, a slave who serves a chief's only daughter, Hineamuru. When Hineamuru is abducted by a warlock, Meariki and Pāhi, a young warrior and Hineamuruā's lover, go on a hazardous journey to rescue Hineamuru.
Pāhi is brave but arrogant, while Meariki is clever and resourceful, and the journey's success rests on her. During the adventure, Pāhi and Meariki uncover hidden truths, and Meariki realises that in saving Hineamuru, her own true destiny will be revealed.
This is the Māori-language version of Meariki: The Quest for Truth. This is part of the Matawehi Fables/Ngā Waituhi o Matawehi.
